Bethany LeBlanc

Licenced Massage Therapist

Bethany studied massage at Cortiva Institute in Boston, MA and received her Massage Therapy License in 2015. An avid learner, Bethany has received additional training in Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Stone Therapy, Cupping, Ayurvedic Massage (Abhyanga and Basti Joint Treatments) and Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy. When she isn't providing exceptional therapeutic massage treatments to her clients, Bethany enjoys running with her dog, Roxy, snowboarding with her husband, Rob and a regular yoga practice at Essence Yoga and at home! Her 25+ years as a runner and 15+ years as a Yogi give her a solid understanding of the anatomy, physiology and kinesiology of athletes which makes her especially adept at treating this demographic. Having spent 15 years behind a desk in various corporate settings, she is also very skilled with addressing the unique needs of clients who spend a lot of time working at a computer (which she fondly refers to as "computer athletes"). Whether you're an athlete in training, nursing an injury, an expectant mother, or just plain overworked and over-stressed, Bethany has a technique that will work wonders for you.

BODYWORK

Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine which can decrease pain and inflammation, increase blood flow, decompress tissue, eliminate metabolic waste or "toxins" and promote relaxation and well-being. During this treatment plastic and silicone cups are placed on various areas of the body and suction is applied. Cupping can be incorporated into a deep tissue session or can be a stand alone treatments.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a technique aimed at accessing and releasing the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, working within the comfort level of the individual client.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) techniques range from slow deliberate strokes applied to specific muscles to targeted trigger point release therapies. Used to treat clients with a variety of soft tissue problems including injuries, scar tissue and postural misalignment, MFR addresses the entire body to restore range of motion, improve posture and breakup scar tissue.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage incorporates deep tissue techniques and stretching to prepare muscles for peak performance, recover from fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, and prevent injuries. Perfect for pre- and post- athletic events, such as 10K’s, marathons, Pan-Mass, triathlons, weightlifting or Crossfit competitions, etc.

Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a relaxation technique that applies long rhythmic strokes using light to moderate pressure to improve circulation and flexibility, detoxify the body, ease sore muscles and calm the nervous system.

SPECIALTY TREATMENTS

The following unique treatments require special training and tools and additional setup/cleanup time for the therapist. They are a minimum of 60 mins in length. If you are interested in receiving one of these treatments, please let your therapist know when booking your appointment so she can set up the room/tools accordingly.

Ashiatsu
In Japanese "ashi" translates to foot and "atsu" into pressure. Ashiatsi is a barefoot massage technique in which deep, broad, consistent pressure is applied while utilizing feet and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, parallel bars are used above the massage table for balance, support and client safety.

Ashi-Thai
Ashi-Thai is an expression of traditional Thai stretches that have been modified utilizing the overhead bar system and the therapist’s body to navigate the client into various positions and deepen the stretch. This flowing and rhythmic approach to Thai massage can easily be incorporated into a regular Ashiatsu session or can also be given as a stand-alone treatment.
Abhyanga Massage
Abhyanga (warm oil massage) is a form of Ayurvedic medicine that involves massage of the body with warm herb infused oil. The oil is pre-mixed with herbs to address specific conditions and imbalances in the body.
It is believed that Abhyanga can improve joint health, nourish the tissues of the body and balance the central nervous system. During this luxurious treatment, a generous amount of high-quality heated oil is applied using a sequence of massage strokes that relax and soften muscle tissue. The oils nourish the body from inside out with amazing benefits to the skin (our largest organ!), and all the bodily systems.

Hot Stone Massage
During a Hot Stone treatment heated basalt stones are used with oil to warm and soften tissue. This is a deeply relaxing and therapeutic treatment which uses warm stones in conjunction with either Swedish or Deep Tissue massage strokes for maximum benefit.

Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage can help reduce lower back pain, swelling, headaches, stress, and anxiety. Each session is tailored specifically to the needs of expecting mothers in all stages of pregnancy. Several pillows and bolsters are used for a comfortable face-up and side-lying position. Prenatal Massage is available throughout pregnancy, but physician permission is required during the first trimester.
